Statement on the Guyana-Venzeuela Border Controversy

PORT OF SPAIN, 21 October 2013 

On 17 October 2013, the Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on the border controversy between Guyana and Venezuela, Mr. Norman Girvan, had very productive separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Guyana and Venezuela. The Ministers emphasized the excellent bilateral relations that currently exist between the two States.

USVI moving toward visa-free travel for CARICOM nationals

United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Governor John de Jongh said he would seek to encourage visitors from the English speaking Caribbean to his country and is moving to get Caribbean Community (CARICOM) nationals to enter the country without the necessary United States visa.

China’s Economy Rebounds, but Is It Rebalancing?

China’s GDP has picked up, growing 7.8 percent in the third quarter. That compares with 7.5 percent in the three months from April through June and 7.7 percent in the first quarter of the year. The acceleration has sparked hopes that China’s economy has finally rebounded after two quarters of weakening growth.

US Budget Deadlock Spooks Investors
