Developing a regional network of business incubators, and through them grow small and micro businesses in the region. EPIC is being delivered using three linked components: (1) support and expand the Caribbean network of business incubators; (2) upgrade incubator manager skills and provide resources for regional policy makers; and (3) develop a regional microbusiness and small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) seed fund.

Examples of Funded Projects:
PitchIT Caribbean, a pitching and business mentoring opportunity for the region’s mobile and web entrepreneurs. The contest brings our mobile innovation expertise to the fingertips of Caribbean entrepreneurs for the first time ever.
  • In order to help Jamaican mobile startups leap from great prototypes to profitable companies,infoDev and Caribbean BETA launched Jamaica Startup BootCamp—a two-month-long pitching challenge with virtual business coaching—November 17-18, 2012.
  • In late June, over 30 industry experts and regional stakeholders largely endorsed infoDev’s preliminary mobile innovation (mInnovation) model for the Caribbean at a workshop in Kingston, Jamaica. In particular, attendees commended the model’s emphasis on sustainability and its regional focus.
