From Dialogue to Action Policy Recommendations and Public-Private Partnership Proposals

Americas Business Dialogue emerged as an outcome of the first edition of the CEO Summit of the Americas, held back-to-back to the VI Summit of the Americas (Cartagena de Indias, April 2012), which provided a unique forum for an open high-level public-private dialogue among some of the most important business and government leaders of the region.

13 Heads of State and Government took part in the CEO Summit of Cartagena including Presidents Barack Obama (USA), Dilma Rouseff (Brazil), Juan Manuel Santos (Colombia), Felipe Calderon (Mexico), Ollanta Humala (Peru), Sebastián Piñera (Chile), Laura Chinchilla (Costa Rica) , Ricardo Martinelli (Panama), Mauricio Funes (El Salvador), Otto Perez Molina (Guatemala) as well as Prime Ministers Stephen Harper (Canada), Kamla Persad-Bissessar (Trinidad and Tobago), and Portia Simpson-Miller (Jamaica), among others.

The CEO Summit also had the participation of more than 700 business leaders from 21 countries in the Americas, including prominent CEOs of the region such as Marcelo Odebrecht (Odebrecht), Gustavo Grobocopatel (Los Grobo), Andre Esteves (BTG Pactual), Carlos Julio Ardila (Organización Ardila Lülle), Jose Antonio Fernández (FEMSA), Andrés Gluski (AES), Diego Hernández (Codelco), Aaron Regent (Barrick Gold), Stanley Motta (Copa Holdings), Enrique Pescarmona (IMPSA), Arthur Lok Jack (Associated Brands Industries), and Emilio Azcárraga (Televisa), among many others.

As a result, Americas Business Dialogue was created on the belief that the region’s business community can play an active, responsible, and constructive role in the discussion and formation of public policies and international initiatives for the Americas
