CARICOM Threads Carefully As Region Comes Closer To Conclusion Of The CARICOM-Canada

CARICOM and Canada continue to indulge in negotiations of a CARICOM-Canada Free Trade Agreement. The 6th Round of negotiations commenced in Ottawa April 03rd 2014. At the end of that Round progress was reported as it pertains to the overall negotiations. Nevertheless, going forward it can be foreseen that Canada will continue to pressure the region for increased cuts in duties, inter alia. As the June 2014 deadline, set by Canada for the conclusion of the negotiations, quickly approaches tariff reduction is just one of the critical issues that could delay the conclusion of the Agreement. .....
