BPSA Appoints New CEO
(Bridgetown, Barbados 29 April, 2011) – The Barbados Private Sector Association (BPSA) announced today the appointment of Anne Reid to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
“We are delighted to have someone with Mrs. Reid’s experience to lead the BPSA during this critical time to the Association,” said BPSA Board Chairman Ben L. Arrindell. “She brings both a legal and business background to the Association and skills that are critical in today’s business environment.”
The BPSA, the umbrella agency of private sector organisations in Barbados, is the representative body of the private sector in the country’s tripartite mechanism, the Social Partnership. The organisation promotes and defends the sector’s interests at the national level. The BPSA also serves as the home of the Private Sector Trade Team (PSTT), the private sector’s representatives in Barbados’ global trade negotiations.
Mrs. Reid, attorney at law, is a graduate of the Hugh Wooding Law School and the holder of an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the University of the West Indies. She has over 25 years experience in the private sector prior to establishing a law practice at Unity Chambers. Mrs. Reid’s contributions to corporate Barbados over the years include service to the Barbados Employers Confederation, Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Wages Council of Barbados and the National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE).
“The private sector is facing a number of challenges given the uncertain global economic environment while experiencing increasing liberalisation of the domestic market. I look forward to working with the Board and staff of BPSA to continue its work within in the Social Partnership of Barbados and the private sector generally as together we seek to progress the social and economic development of Barbados,” said Mrs. Reid following the announcement of her appointment.
